ABOUT US

One Owner. The Standard Doesn't Change.

Matt King spent years as a subcontractor before starting KingStruction. Twenty-two years in, the approach is the same in a basement as anywhere else in your home: plan it right, build it to code, and treat the house like it matters. The standard does not change based on who is watching.

Basement Remodeling FAQs

Does my basement need special preparation before remodeling?

Every project starts with a moisture assessment. Depending on what we find, we may recommend waterproofing, drain tile installation, or exterior grading so the new space stays dry and protected before framing begins.

Do basement remodels require permits?

Yes. Any project that involves framing, electrical, plumbing, or an egress window requires permits. We handle all permits and inspections so the finished space meets safety and building codes.

What is the best flooring for a finished basement?

Materials with high moisture resistance. Luxury vinyl tile (LVT), engineered hardwood, and quality carpet over a moisture barrier are durable choices that help prevent mold and mildew.

Can I add a bedroom to my basement?

Yes, with a code-compliant egress window and well. It is a required escape route in case of fire, and we manage the full installation to keep the bedroom compliant.

Do you handle the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work?

Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC routing is planned into every basement project, along with GFCI outlets, dedicated circuits, and smoke and carbon monoxide detector placement. Every part of the job that requires a permit is permitted and inspected.

What happens at the consultation?

We meet at your home to walk the space, talk through how you want to use it, and understand your budget. From there, the team builds a detailed plan so you can see the full scope before any work begins.
